Blastoise EX
Shellfish Pokémon — Stage 2

Blastoise is a fortress made flesh — a Pokémon that has spent its entire evolution becoming more armoured, more powerful, and more precise. The cannons mounted on its shell are capable of firing water at a pressure that can punch through thick steel, and its accuracy is so refined that it can hit targets over fifty metres away without fail. It does not move quickly, and it does not need to. Blastoise commands every engagement from a position of absolute defensive authority, absorbing punishment that would destroy lesser Pokémon and responding with blasts of water that end battles instantly. It is the anchor of any team it joins — immovable, unstoppable, and entirely in control.

Blastoise is the foundation on which Deep Current is built. Before the sea serpents and the storm deities and the tidal predators, there was a turtle with cannons — and that turtle became one of the most iconic Pokémon ever created. Every card in this collection exists in the shadow of what Blastoise established. It belongs at the front of Deep Current not because it is the most powerful card here, but because without it, none of the others make sense.

Kyogre EX
Sea Basin Pokémon — Legendary — Deity of the Sea

Kyogre is said to be the personification of the sea itself — an ancient creature so vast and so powerful that its very awakening causes endless rainfall and rising oceans to swallow entire continents. Ancient mythology describes it as the being that expanded the seas by covering the land in water, locked in an eternal conflict with Groudon over the dominance of ocean and earth. It sleeps in the deepest trench on the ocean floor, dreaming in the darkness, and the ocean is calm only because Kyogre allows it to be. When it stirs, the sky turns black and the waves rise to swallow the horizon.

If Blastoise is the anchor of Deep Current, Kyogre is its soul. There is no more fitting deity for a collection built around the power of the ocean — a legendary that does not merely command water but is water, in its most ancient and overwhelming form. The ice-blue art captures that perfectly: something immense and prehistoric rising through the depths, the sea parting around it in reverence.

Suicune V
Aurora Pokémon — Legendary — Guardian of the Lakes

Suicune is said to be the reincarnation of the north wind — a creature of pure elemental grace that travels the world purifying polluted water wherever it finds it. It runs across the surface of the ocean as easily as it moves across land, always heading north, always moving, always alone. Ancient legends describe it as the embodiment of a harsh winter wind given physical form, beautiful and cold and indifferent to everything except the purity of the water it protects. It does not fight unless cornered, and it does not stay long enough to be cornered. It is always already gone before you realise it was there.

Suicune brings an elegance to Deep Current that the other cards cannot. Blastoise commands, Feraligatr hunts, Gyarados rages — but Suicune simply moves, effortlessly and perfectly, across the surface of a world it purifies by existing in it. The aurora and meteor art from Crown Zenith gives it a celestial quality that elevates the whole collection, a reminder that the ocean is not only power and fury but also something vast and achingly beautiful.

Kingdra ex
Dragon Pokémon — Stage 2 — Sea Sovereign

Kingdra lives at extreme ocean depths where the water pressure would crush most living things instantly. It is said to sleep in underwater caves at the very bottom of the sea, and that when it wakes and yawns, it generates a whirlpool powerful enough to swallow entire ships. In ancient times, sailors believed that the great storms and oceanic whirlpools that appeared without warning were caused by Kingdra stirring in its sleep far below the surface — a creature so deeply integrated with the sea that its unconscious movements reshape the world above. Its combination of Dragon and Water type makes it a sovereign of the deep in every sense.

Kingdra earns its place in Deep Current as the dragon of the ocean — a reminder that the sea has its own ancient predators that predate even the legendary titans. The moonlit wave art is among the most evocative water Pokémon art ever printed, capturing the exact storm-tidal energy that Deep Current is built around. Where Gyarados is the ocean's rage, Kingdra is its mystery.

Swampert EX
Mud Fish Pokémon — Stage 2

Swampert is a creature of the boundary between land and sea — equally at home in water or on shore, equally dangerous in both. It can lift boulders weighing over a ton with ease and uses them to construct barriers against incoming tidal waves, reading the ocean's behaviour through subtle shifts in sounds and tides that no human instrument can detect. When a storm is coming, Swampert knows days in advance. It does not flee — it builds, braces, and waits. When the wave finally arrives it meets something immovable, something that has been ready since before the clouds gathered.

Swampert brings Deep Current its earth-and-water duality — a reminder that the ocean's power is not just about what moves through the water but about what the sea does to the land it meets. It is the tide wall and the flood at once, the Pokémon that understands the ocean not as a home but as a force to be respected and channelled. No Deep Current collection is complete without something that has made peace with the storm.

Empoleon ex
Emperor Pokémon — Stage 2 — Emperor of the Sea

Empoleon is royalty made manifest — a Pokémon that carries itself with the absolute certainty of something that has never questioned its own authority. Its wings are edged with steel so sharp they can cleave through icebergs without slowing, and it swims faster than most ocean vessels can sail. Lesser Pokémon instinctively bow their heads when Empoleon passes, and it acknowledges this with complete indifference. It does not rule through fear or force but through the simple, undeniable fact of what it is — a sovereign of the deep that was born to command the cold water and has never been given reason to doubt it.

Every great collection needs an emperor, and Empoleon is Deep Current's. Where Kyogre is the ocean's ancient soul and Blastoise is its foundation, Empoleon is its crown — the Pokémon that turns the sea's raw power into something regal and deliberate. The steel-blue art captures that authority perfectly: wings raised, posture immaculate, entirely unimpressed by everything around it.

Mega Feraligatr ex
Big Jaw Pokémon — Mega Evolution — Stage 2

Feraligatr is a creature of raw, primal aggression — a predator built entirely around the perfection of the hunt. Its enormous jaws generate a bite force capable of shattering solid boulders, and once they lock shut, nothing has ever been recorded to escape. Despite its massive bulk it moves through water with terrifying speed, driven by legs powerful enough to launch it from the ocean floor to the surface in an instant. Ancient sailors who encountered it in the open sea described not seeing it at all — only hearing the sound of the water being displaced moments before impact. In its Mega Evolution, Feraligatr transcends individual predation and becomes something far more elemental — a tidal force so completely in harmony with the sea that the current itself bends around it, carrying it silently toward whatever it has chosen to pursue.

Mega Feraligatr is the second anchor of Deep Current — the fang to Mega Blastoise's cannon. Where Blastoise commands the ocean with overwhelming force and precision, Feraligatr commands it with speed, silence, and the kind of primal hunger that no amount of armour can defend against. The SIR art captures that perfectly: jaws open, water erupting, something enormous and unstoppable rising from the deep. Deep Current needed a predator. This is it.

Mega Sharpedo ex
Brutal Pokémon — Mega Evolution — Stage 1

Sharpedo is known as the Bully of the Sea — a predator so aggressive and so fast that it has no natural enemies in the ocean. It can accelerate to 75 miles per hour in an instant, tearing through water with the jagged points on its body, and its fangs can shatter solid steel. Nothing in the ocean swims toward Sharpedo. Everything swims away. In its Mega Evolution that aggression is amplified into something almost geological — a shark so perfectly engineered for destruction that the water itself seems to flee before it arrives, leaving a trail of disrupted current and broken surface in its wake.

Mega Sharpedo replaces Gastrodon as the pure predator of Deep Current — no mythology, no grace, no cosmic significance. Just teeth, speed, and the cold efficiency of something that has been perfecting the hunt for millions of years. Every great ocean collection needs a monster that the other monsters are afraid of. Deep Current found it.

Gyarados VMAX
Atrocious Pokémon — Dynamax — Legendary Rage

Gyarados is the embodiment of fury made physical — a creature whose very existence is a testament to what happens when something gentle is pushed past its limits. It begins as Magikarp, the most helpless Pokémon in the world, and through sheer endurance transforms into a monster capable of leveling entire cities in a single night of rage. Ancient records describe Gyarados rampages lasting months, leaving nothing standing for hundreds of miles. In its Dynamax form that rage scales to something almost geological — a sea serpent so vast that it blots out the horizon, roaring with a fury that causes tidal waves to form simply from the force of its voice.

Gyarados is the storm that Deep Current was always building toward. Every card in this collection carries the ocean's power in some form — Blastoise's precision, Feraligatr's hunger, Suicune's grace — but Gyarados carries its rage. It is the tidal wave after the earthquake, the moment when the sea stops being beautiful and becomes something that erases coastlines. Deep Current needed a closer that felt like an ending. Gyarados VMAX is exactly that.
